Hornets(15-16) @ Warriors(18-5) [Preview][Wrap-up][Sorry guys]

It’s been a while, but the Hornets status has pretty much remained the same, playing really well but staying right at one game under 500 for the year. After we beat the Timberwolves, we got outplayed by the COVID ridden Spurs, which ultimately caused the Hornets to miss the next two games (and caused me to be lazy and slack on the blog, my B…). That was followed up by Scary Terry taking a dump on the Curryless Warriors’ chest with his scoring and game winner about a week ago. Utah continued to be a brutal matchup for us and dominated us from the start to finish of the game. Moist Monk was on fire against the Suns, and LaMelo took over at the end of the game to lead the Hornets to victory over the #4 seed in the west. All in all not too bad, and a very Hornetsy west coast road trip so far.(these late ass games are killer.)

All that brings us to Warriors matchup tonight, which should be more difficult than the last matchup assuming Curry’s vertigo doesn’t return. The Warriors will have Wiseman back in the Lineup but when it comes to the 2020-2021 Warriors everything starts and ends with Steph Curry. Steph has been averaging 7 points more than his career average while remaining just as efficient as ever. Since Steph stopped rocking his goofy ass looking braids he has been unstoppable and the Warriors have looked kinda like the Warriors we have come to know and lose to. Fortunately for the Hornets and the rest of the league, instead of KD and Klay backing Curry up it is Kelly Oubre and Andrew fucking Wiggins. This should not scare anybody but the two have played well enough to keep them in games and allow Curry to win a bunch down the stretch. That said, Fuck em’, not scared, LaMelo and Gangerrrr are on a tear and I don’t expect them to slow down anytime soon. LaMelo should have the Warriors questioning the Wiseman pick by the end of the game tonight.

Hornets Keys

Moist Monk – It’s hard to lose a game when you have a guy scoring 30 points off the bench, looking for Monks streak to continue

LaMelo – We have now seen LaMelo swag out against a number of very good opponents, hopefully he has a little extra for Curry and the team that passed on him to draft Wiseman

Play great defense or Score the shit out of the basketball – The majority of the Warriors wins come when they score between 110-120. Idk wtf that means but if we don’t let the warriors score in that range then I bet we win.

Warriors Key

Steph Curry – Looking forward to hearing his pops Del call this game.

Timberwolves(6-19) @ Hornets(12-14) [Preview]

The Timberwolves come to town for the first time of the Season tonight, with a healthy Karl Anthony Towns. KAT has been out most of the year(only played 5 games) with his and his family’s battle with COVID. He played well in his return but he even admitted that he was not “ready” to play,  likely meaning mentally and physically. With KAT out the T-Wolves failed to get any momentum going and have been reliant on scoring from Larsa Pippen’s boy Malik Beasley(please don’t shoot me Malik… Startribune.com). Malik has been playing very well and fairly efficient, but it is clear he’s not a #1 option on a winning team. Lottery Rookies Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball face off for the first time tonight and as strong/good/funny as Edwards is, I am eternally grateful that the Wolves took Edwards #1 overall because that was the only way Ball could have fallen to the Hornets at 3. If they would have taken Wiseman, LaMelo would be in San Fransisco right now and the hornets would have 10 shooting guards on the roster.

The Timberwolves play a pretty small lineup besides Towns, which is always a good thing for the Hornets and our lack of size. Their bench is a fair amount taller than ours, but nobody gives me matchup scaries this game besides Zeller vs. KAT. I was trying to figure out who would be the random player who goes off against us when I saw the name Jaden McDaniels on their roster. WTF is going on here, I thought it was Jalen and I thought he was sent to the Greensboro Swarm? So I clicked on his name, welp that sure as fuck looks like our Jalen and is the same exact height and weight. Turns out Jalen has a younger brother Jaden, shout out to their parents because that’s pretty damn funny.

Charlotte Keys

Put a hand up – maybe closeout or do something against three-point shots? Just a thought

Get out and run – The Timberwolves have let up an average of 122 points in the last 3 games, we need to score 120ish points for us to win with the defense(or lack thereof) we have been playing.

Minnesota Keys

KAT – This team goes as KAT goes

Bench Defense – Wolves have allowed a lot of points to opposing teams’ benches, they’ll have a tough time tonight limiting the streaking Miles Bridges and Malik Monk

Prop Bets HugoCLT’s overall record(17-11)

Anthony Edwards UNDERpoints+rebounds+assists21 (-116)

Hornets(12-13) @ Grizzlies(9-10) [Preview]

Had to add an extra picture up top, in a second you’ll understand why I couldn’t have Diets’ ass up top

The Southeast Division leading Hornets are headed nine and a half hours west on I40 to face off against what’s left of the Grizzlies (or a 1.5 hour flight but that’s not as fun). The Grizzlies have 7 “players” listed as out for tonight’s game, none of them are COVID related either, yeeeeesh. Lead athletic trainer for the Grizzlies, Jeff Diets, is probably feeling about as comfortable as he looks in his Linkedin profile pic.

The reduced roster works in our favor as for the second game in a row the Hornets are playing a team with only one real big man, NO Kyle Anderson doesn’t count as a big man and NO Gorgui Deng doesn’t count as a player in general. This should allow the Hornets to play their game and win this one to get back to .500 on the season. The Hornets got smacked by the Grizzlies early as hell in the season but those were different times, we only had half a big man at the time and he(Bismack) started. That said, I do not look forward to watching Kyle Anderson euro step past shotty defense at a clip of 4 inches per hour. Anyone else ever notice how slow and methodical Anderson moves? It’s very frustrating to watch him because it feels like everything he does is either a travel or delay of game or something, but it’s not. I’m not scared of this matchup at all because Zeller is back, LaMelo is feeling himself, and moist Monk is wet.  the Hornets should beat the Grizzlies ass. Devonte’ is out this game, so Borrego will not have any difficult decisions to make, which also plays  in our favor.

Charlotte Keys

Gangerr – Monk has been a consistent bucket off the bench, and Miles hasn’t been too far behind. If LaMelo and his gang(err) are on tonight the Grizzlies don’t have any shot. “my youngin quick to shoot, he gotta stupid jumper”-LaMelo Balls most recent instagram – Rio Da yung OG.

Big runs – This feels like a game where a long ass run could demoralize the Grizzlies.

Memphis Keys

Ja – Hornets fans should remember Ja hitting the game winner against us in Charlotte last year, he’ll need to do something similar in this one.

Ja’s game winner all over our asses

Xavier Tillman – Xavier who? Exactly my point, it’s been a few games since we let a random ass player drag his nuts all over us.

Prop Bets HugoCLT’s overall record(16-9)

Gordon Hayward OVER4.5assists (+102)

Cody Zeller OVER21.5points+rebounds+assists (-119)

Jonas Valanciunas OVER2.5assists (+127)
