Hornets-114 Grizzlies-130 [Wrap-up]

What a brutal game to watch last night, just zero defense at all. The Hornets didn’t even attempt to play defense as we dropped our 4th straight to Memphis. The most frustrating part of the loss was the Grizzlies kept doing the same damn thing and we just kept letting them shoot 3 pointers. The Grizzlies hit 23 threes on us at a 47% rate, most of them were uncontested or at the very most lightly contested. The 6’ tall Tyus Jones even went ¾ from deep. For context Jones is shooting 28% from 3 this year and only had 14 made threes on the season before tonight. 18% of Jones’ threes on the season were last night…. If I was a corny ass high school coach I would say the games that teams’ shoot poorly against us are fools gold because they missed the shot, we didn’t make them miss the shot(aka we got lucky they missed shots).

Terry, Miles, and LaMelo are the only Hornets that played worth a damn. Miles had 30% of our rebounds while Zeller was busy getting outrebounded by Jonas Valanciunas 16-3. We might need some help at PF/C coach. The Hornets didn’t even play bad on offense at all, we made a lot of difficult shots and had some great offensive sets, but when the other team is having a glorified 3-point contest on the other end you don’t really have any chance.

-Are we trying to make the playoffs Yes or No? if yes, please trade for a big man ASAP. If not lets start tanking our way to the lottery, but my vote is for playoffs.

-Its not that fun watching Kyle Anderson and his slow methodical ass work us all game long. If we do scouting reports he should have been on the top because he did this to us earlier in the year.

-I would LOVE to know what the designed switching and closeout schemes are.

-Borrego should start pulling people as soon as they don’t get to shooters or something. If players are supposed to be closing out hard on shooters, it’s his job as a coach to hold them accountable to that. If they aren’t supposed to be closing out hard idk wtf to say besides we need to be.

-Grayson Allen doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt on ANY tripping calls, that sequence was kinda funny. He cant even be that mad about it, something something you reap what you sow

-We are still in 7th in the east and 1st in the southeast. If the playoffs started today that would probably be a success, but it’s frustrating because it seems like we could be so much better with a better defensive scheme

Rockets-94 Hornets-119 [wrap-up]

ONE MORE WIN TO .500! LaMelo and the Hornets came out last night and took care of business and beat a team they should have. That’s not snarky or anything we need to win these types of games and not play down to our competition like we have so many times this year. LaMelo led the Hornets tonight, both statistically and on the court. If this game is not a signal to Borrego to keep him starting then idk what the hell it will take. Everybody saw LaMelo draining threes all over the Rockets but it also felt like the Hornets energy level was sooooo much higher when he was on the court. His +29 proves out that theory, especially because the next highest Hornets player was +16…

“ganggerr” aka LaMelo’s crew(Miles, Biz, Monk, more to be added at a later date) had another great performance off the bench, especially Monk who seems to have forced Borrego’s ass to play him consistent minutes. Monk is playing over 25 minutes per game for the month of February and is averaging 16 points per game. If he were to keep it up it would be double his career average. Miles had 19 points of his own including the first 7 points to start of the slaughter of the Rockets in the fourth, in which the Hornets outscored the Rockets 29-7.

-Unless your talking about his shoes, STFU with the Caleb Martin hate. A steal and a charge to start the fourth is exactly why he’s a positive minutes eater for us.

-LaMelo is the future and we better treat him that way. No need to piss him or Lavar off by not starting him, he’s the truth.

-I did not realize Wall was out, that really made this game a lot easier

76ers-118 @ Hornets-11 [Wrap-up]

The 76ers came out and handled their business last night, nothing to be upset about. The Hornets were down Terry and PJ and were outmatched roster wise last night. Hornets aren’t beating a team with Embiid and Dwight when we trot out Cody and Bismack…

My cat could tell you who wins this matchup

Plenty of positives for the Hornets last night, a major one being  not giving up until the end. LaMelo worked his dick off last night even when the game wasn’t going his/our way. That shouldn’t surprise anyone who has been watching him play all year, but there are plenty of people out there who judge him based on his family aka small ballers. Everybody on the Hornets played about as well as you can expect, chalk this one up 100% to the 76ers being the better team. At least our point guard knows which hand to use though…

-Caleb’s arc flash rated yellow Pumas are fucking grossssssss

I wouldn’t even wear these on a steel-toe job site

-I audibly laughed when Collins said how remarkable Simmons off hand use was. Can’t have a weak off hand if you don’t have a strong hand…taps forehead….

-The east probably runs through Embiid this year

-Nik Richards was in the building today. I guess that’s our plan for if any of our “bigs” get hurt, recall Richards and benching him… makes sense?? I guess Nick is better than Carey? But how tf would we know?

-Malik is BACK, BACK
