Hornets-135 timberwolves-102 [Wrap-up]

Boy are the timberwolves shitty and boy did it feel good to win a game handily. The Hornets previous 4 wins were by a combined 10 points, and we have been alternating wins and losses since February 8th… idk what else so say about the timberwolves(yes I am intentionally not capitalizing “timberwolves” because they don’t deserve it) besides that they are a completely broken franchise and team. Anthony Edwards continued his shooting spree by putting up 23 shots, but was only able to make 8 of them. To be fair to him that is only 2% lower than he has been shooting the rest of the season. Idk maybe there is such thing as a bad shot? Rubio played the best out of any wolf last night, and guess what, he hates the team and thinks they suck too… I bet the franchise is wishing they didn’t burn every bridge they had with KG by buying out his stake of the team and disrespecting the recently deceased Flip Saunders. You know what, KAT is literally the exact opposite type of a player as KG. KG was strong willed, ultra-competitive, and tenacious; where (kitty)KAT lets worse players put up more shots than him, not very competitive (in games or practices from the sounds of it, right Jimmy?), and tedious. I’d be concerned about building around a guy who is afraid to shoot the amount of times he probably should.

Enough about the timberwolves, Terry had another Klay ass quarter and essentially closed out the game with his 18 points(5 3s) in the third quarter. It was a great surprise to have Gordon back in the lineup, his presence seemed to allow the Hornets to be a little more chill on the offensive end in general. Everybody(important) got theirs for the us last night, even Biz, so there’s not too much to dig into on the offensive end. It will be great to get back into the arena to watch some live games after the break, hopefully the Hornets can even get above 500 again, and stay there too!

Hornets-(16-18) @ Timberwolves(7-28) [Preview]

The Hornets have one more game before the Allstar break to get back to where we belong, one game under 500… The Wolves are having a rough season(existence) in general, they probably thought they were going to get better when KAT returned but the Wolves have actually got worse. I’m not going to trash KAT too much because the guys been through a lot in the last year or so but I simply just don’t think KAT is a winner. I have been all the way out on the Timberwolves since they ran Jimmy out of town for competing too hard and tenaciously. For fucks sake look at what Thibs has done with the KNICKS.

Zeller and Graham will probably sit this one out because of the week long break for the Allstar game so it will be a shit show of a matchup size wise for the Hornets but the Wolves are so bad that it likely won’t matter. I do kind of respect how much time they’re letting their young guys play but its clear that won’t win them many games this year. I think the Wolves are the first team of the year to start actively tanking. Anthony Edwards is absolutely chucking up shots, regardless of the rate they go in.

Shout out to being in the central time zone at least, mother fuck that 10:30pm start in Portland.

Hornets Keys

Rebound aggressively – It seemed like every time we actually got a stop versus Portland we allowed them to eeek out an offensive rebound

Biz and Martin– our lack of depth at > 6’6” is getting these two big time minutes, we just need them to not mess up too bad and grab some boards

Timberwolves Keys

I don’t even think they care

Hornets-127 Kings-126 [Wrap-up]

What the hell was that ending? I do not believe the Kings are actively tanking (yet) but holy shit did it look like they were at the end of the game. The game should have been over when LaMelo committed a flagrant foul but the Kings figured it’d be more interesting to miss 5 free throws in the last minute of game play, and I think they were right. It was a ridiculous “comeback” but please miss me with the win probability bull shit. Idk how they compute it but its not a fun stat to me because it’s the same dogshit every time, they only had a .4% chance of winning?!?! Says who, some fucking algo? Does that algo factor in a teams culture or lack there of? I doubt it because if they did then Kings’ opponents win % should never drop below like 5% until the final whistle, Kings gonna Kings.

The real story of the night should be PJ fucking Washington, who went off for a career high 42 points on 15 of 23 points from the field. PJ also had 9 rebounds and 2 blocks and 2 steals to complete his historic night. This got me thinking, how many damn career highs have we had this season? Terry, Gordon, LaMelo, Malik, and now PJ. No wonder this team is having so much fun on the court, Borrego has them playing like a team on offense for sure.

-Moist Monk with another 20 point performance off the bench. Malik is really doing his best job at making me feel better about writing a blog saying we should probably trade Terry if anything… Also he absolutely dad dicked Buddy on his game winning layup, Monk later said that he was actually going up for a dunk at first, which might make it even more impressive.

-How many times are we going to be 1 game under 500?

-I miss devonte’

-Tyrese Haliburton was injured so we didn’t get to see LaMelo and him side by side, which will allow Kings fans and NBA reddit to keep talking Tyrese>LaMelo trash… I mean who wouldn’t want the 13-3-5 player over the younger 15-6-6 player (Hint LaMelo has the better stats and always will because he’s the better player)
