Rockets(11-11) @ Hornets(11-13) [Preview]

The Rockets are coming off a loss in their first game without Christian Wood since he came onto the scene and onto half the league. DeMarcus Cousins will start in Woods absence, which is a statement that would have confused the shit out of people 4 years ago. Cody Zeller will most likely come out ahead in the matchup against Boogie, another sentence only made possible by Cousins’ body giving up on him. I believe that the Rockets have been frauds so far this year and that the league will catchup to Christian Wood’s game fairly quickly kind of like Whiteside… People act like he’s a rookie where sky is the limit, which is just not true for the 25 year old. The Hornets are coming off of an easy victory against the shitty Wizards, after losing their previous two games to the top team from each division.

Devonte’ is day to day with his hip injury, so I would guess LaMelo gets the start again in tonight’s game. It will be very intriguing to see if LaMelo stays in the starting lineup once the whole squad is healthy (he should, it’s time). By the way, Tyrese Haliburton fans need to chill the fuck out, he’s not better than LaMelo, and he never will be. At least wait for Tyrese to lead LaMelo in rebounds, assists, steals OR points, all of which he trails Melo in. I’m going to need that to happen before I waste another sentence on that bullshit.

Take advantage of matchups – size wise this is the best matchup we’ve had all year so we better take advantage of that, especially with Wood out.

LaMelo – If LaMelo starts and plays well we win this game.

Houston Keys

2010 Kentucky Wildcats – we’ll see if Boogie and Wall can turn the clocks, Louisville alum Terry Rozier might have something to say about that. (This felt so weird when I made it red)

Prop Bets HugoCLT’s Overall Record (15-7)

PJ Washington OVER5.5points

Victor Oladipo UNDER20.5points

PJ Tucker OVER1.5assists

Jazz(17-5) @ Hornets(10-12)[Preview]

Players I get worried about playing against: All star Big Men

Exception: Rudy Gobert

There’s nothing less intimidating than a soft t. What are you going to do to us Rudy? Shut down Zeller, oh no please don’t cripple our scoring like that. Yes Rudy plays good defense but I’m with Shaq on this one. I mean the guy has as many 20 point games as he does 4 point games(2). Zeller just needs to take up some space, get a few boards, and that’s a win for us, considering Rudy will be making 46million dollars come the 2025-26 NBA season. Oh shit I just thought of something, has there ever been an NBA team who makes the playoffs with TWO Cody’s on their roster?

*Googles NBA teams with two codys on them* – Ok that was a long shot

*Googles: NBA players named Cody* – No definitive lists, but why tf would there be.

*Googles: List of NBA players who’s first name starts with a C* – alright WTF am I doing here

I’ll have to do this the old fashion way by going to basketball reference and Ctrl+f’ing the shit out of the last name lists. Ok I’m through last names that start with the letter F and am still at ZERO, wtf is going on here. Ayyo , my first hit, fucking Cody Martin. Starting to think Zeller and Martin are the only Cody’s in league history.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, according to basketball reference, Cody Zeller and Cody Martin are the only two Codys in the history of the NBA. That is a big time mindfuck.

So yea the Jazz game… The fun part about this game will be that both teams play a “team” game. The Hornets lead the league in assists while the Jazz divvy up their scoring in all sorts of different ways. Bojan is someone who could be a real difference maker because he can rip trips, and would be the second tallest player on our team. I normally would not be that worried about him because PJ matches up pretty well against him but he’s still out with a sprained foot. Hopefully Terry being back in the lineup will give us enough of a boost to beat the top team in the west(by record, stfu Lebron/Laker stans).

Charlotte Keys

Get out and run – Hornets tend to turn the ball over if they try to push transition too much but if they get out and run tonight it could nullify Gobert’s defensive prowess.

Monk – I’m looking for the steamy moist Monk to have a big game tonight. That combined with Terry’s production being back could be enough for a dub.

Utah Keys

Bojan – See above

Guard Defense – Jazz are the #3 defensive team in the league and if they can force our young guards to give it up we might be hosed.

Hornets-129 Heat-121 [Wrap-up]

3 in a row! All three wins versus 2020 playoff teams to boot (wtf are the origins of this saying(it’s not interesting something about ye olde English law)). Malik Monk had a career game, including 36 points on  61% shooting from the field. Monk looked as confident and comfortable as I have ever seen him in the NBA. We needed Monk to make up for Rozier being out with an ankle injury, we really fucking needed Monk when PJ went down in the second half. Monk had our back. Hornets’ players being able to catch fire might be one of this teams’ greatest strengths. Bridges, Ball, Graham, Rozier, Hayward and now Monk have all had games where they went TF off and took over, most of the time from 3 point range too.

I did think Jimmy G(g stands for gets) Buckets had us in the fourth quarter when he rattled off 4 shots in a row immediately followed by a 3 from Duncan Robinson, putting the Hornets down 10 with 3:49 left in the game. Monk followed with an and one that caused Spoelstra to call a time out and design a play for Herro to hit a 3, which he did. Gordon had enough of Herro so he decided to bully the shit out of him on the next two possessions for two easy layups. Heat missed a few more threes (died by it last night), Graham hit a 3 and pair of free throws that brought the game to within 3 with 38 seconds left. Iggy missed a three and the Hornets headed the other way. Borrego made a smart move in letting the guys have 10 or so seconds of run to see if they could get an open shot. Even though the Hornets didn’t get a clean look and had to call a timeout this was one of the smarter moves Borrego has made this year, especially considering Spoelstra is on the other side. Borrego drew up a play for Monk that worked to perfection, and Monk and his steel balls tied the game up at 113. Butler settled for a 3 and missed it to end regulation.

OT was rather chill for the Hornets. Hornets started off with a dime from Ball to Zeller, then bullied Herro some more, then made we last 4 free throws to wrap up the game.

-Eric Collins and Del are a delight to listen to on the broadcast

-Confident Malik is here to stay

-Random ass Max Strus lit us up for 19 points, but we still won, because Monk lit them up more. Is Max Strus Big Truss????

LaMelo started off slow but did not let it ruin the rest of the game for him. 3 TOs in the first half, 0 in the second. Ball once again showed us his ability to affect the game in other ways than scoring.
